Conservatories are a wonderful addition to any home, adding space and character to your property. Many home owners say that their conservatory is their favourite room in their home and it’s not hard to see why; the abundance of natural light and the close proximity to the garden making it a room unlike any other. Unfortunately though, a conservatory can also come with some problems – which we’re going to tell you how to solve.

Leaking roofs

Leaky roofs are the bane of many a conservatory owner’s life. After all, nothing ruins a room more than water coming in from the ceiling. If you suspect that your roof is leaking, always seek the help of a professional. The likely culprits are faulty ventilation vents or perished seals, both of which are easy to repair and replace.

Too hot

If you find that your conservatory is too hot during the summer months, you’re certainly not the only one. Due to the amount of natural light coming in, they heat up pretty quickly. You can prevent the temperature form rising too much by installing ventilation throughout your conservatory.

Faulty doors

Sliding doors are a great way of creating a seamless transition between your conservatory and your home or garden – but they can often become jammed. Investing in some great quality doors like Solarlux’s bi-folding ones ensure that you’re less likely to see these kinds of problems occurring.

Too cold

We’ve spoken about them being too hot, but conservatories can also become pretty cold too. If you notice that your conservatory is feeling a little chilly, create heat with radiators and look into installing insulation to prevent that heat from escaping.

Condensation

In a room largely made from glass, condensation can become very noticeable. To deal with the problem, make sure that you have effective ventilation in place. This could be in the form of vents or air bricks. Closing connecting doors can also help the spread of water vapour into your conservatory.

Don’t let these put you off

Although you may encounter other problems, the above five are by far the most common. As you can see, these problems are all easily resolved, meaning that there’s no reason why you shouldn’t treat your home to the conservatory it deserves.
